Financial Commissioner (Agriculture) interacts with farmers of District Samba


JAMMU: In a first of its kind programme to reach out to the farmers, the Financial Commissioner, Agriculture Production Department, Sh. Pramod Jain visited various farmers fields and demonstration sites in district Samba. He was accompanied by Director Agriculture Sh. Ashok Kumar Malhotra, Joint Director Agriculture (Inputs), Sh. Kulbhushan Sambyal and Chief Agriculture Officer, Samba Sh Iqbal Choudhary and other Distrct & Sub-Divisional Level Officers.
Beginning his daylong visit, the worthy Financial Commissioner interacted with the Self Help Group of Women Farmers created under Food Security Mission in village Dhanore of Agriculture Zone Yakh. He appreciated the efforts of all women farmers for taking keen interest in the agriculture activities and exhorted them to take the benefits of all the government schemes for the welfare of farmers to improve their economic condition.
The financial commissioner was also shown a perfectly laid and line sown seed village of Wheat(HD-2967)spread over an area of 24 kanals in village Kotli Matkalian Ramgarh laid under PMKSY-ATMA.
Another cluster demonstration of wheat under NFSM, covering 12 farmers at Village Sujana at Rajpura was also inspected by worthy financial commissioner, APD.
Also he had a long interactive session with the staff and officers of Agriculture department of district Samba. He exhorted the staff of Agriculture department to be punctual, disciplined and dedicated towards farmers welfare and their cause. He laid stress on having a contingent plan ready always to meet the exigencies arising out of climate change. He also laid great stress on timely completion of targets of KCC and Soil Health Cards in particular. He stressed to ensure 100% coverage of farmers under KCC and Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY). He also asked the officials to work on the concept of Integrated Farming so that the farmers income can be doubled by the year2022.
The chief agriculture officer, Sh. Iqbal Choudhary, in the beginning of interactive session gave a power point presentation of all the activities being carried out by the department. He informed the worthy financial commissioner that Samba is the only district of the province that has collected all the basic data information from the farmers and soon this information will be linked with Aadhar cards also for implementation of DBT Scheme.
Speaking on the occasion Director Agriculture Sh Ashok Malhotra assured the worthy financial commissioner that all the targets set will be met with full zeal and zest and the officials will leave no stone unturned to meet the expectations of worthy commissioner. During the interaction, it was agreed upon that the cultivation of Haldi, Pulses and Seasme will be taken on with renewed efforts to help farmers in diversification of their crop.
Lastly financial commissioner Sh Pramod Jain gave a patient hearing to all the problems being faced by the officials of the department and assured that measures will be taken to mitigate them.
