Shiv Sena criticizes Education Deptt for not fixing fees structures of Private Schools


JAMMU: Shiv Sena ( Bala Sahib Thackery) today strongly criticizes state education Deptt. for not fixing fees structure for private schools. While talking to media persons State President of Shiv Sena Dimpy Kohli Rakesh Gupta Chairman Manish Saini said that Private schools are charging exorbitant fees without taking permission from Govt.
He said that besides charging exorbitant fees these schools are also charging many so called funds which are unnecessary putting burden on the pockets of parents . He said that after so many appeals to State Govt. no one has taken any lesson and this dirty money game in Education sector is going on un checked.
Dimpy said that state govt. must regulate fees charged by private institutions and this order will be implemented in spirit. He said thatthe constitutional basis for regulating the fees charged by private unaided educational institutions was also considered by the Supreme Court in TMA Pai Foundation v. State of Karnataka (2002). The court laid down that states should devise appropriate machinery to ensure that there is no profiteering and capitation fees. However, a "reasonable surplus" to further education was permissible. He said that Govt. must consider this demand at an earliest as Admission is started in Private schools . He said that if Govt. has failed to consider their demand Shiv Sena will start agitation . Those who were present on the occasion were Manish Sahni , Rakesh Gupta and others.
