Ashwani Sharma demands string action against youth involved in heckling of CRPF men

BISHNAH: Former MLA Bishnah and senior BJP leader, Ashwani Sharma has strongly condemned the heckling of CRPF men in Kashmir valley by some miscreants and termed it an act against the security of the country.
He said that this act has brought the situation to the fore as in how much pressure security forces personnel are working in the trouble torn Kashmir. “I salute to these CRPF men who adopted restraints and didn’t get provoked despite getting heckled by the hands of violent youth in Budgam area of Kashmir. Videos show very disturbing pictures as CRPF men are being heckled in the middle of the road and people are merely acting as spectators,†Ashwani Sharma said, while addressing a public gathering here today.
The former MLA demanded arrest of all the people involved in the incident. “Some of them have already been arrested but others involved in the incident should also be arrested and put behind the bars. Strong action should be taken against them so that a clear message is sent across and nobody dares to take such a step in future,†Sharma said. He also condemned separatists for fuelling the trouble in Kashmir on the behest of Pakistan. “These separatists are provoking youth in the valley to act against security forces and pelt stones. Their own children are sitting in safe zones and children of poor are being exploited to hurl stones on security forces,†the BJP leader said.
Ashwani Sharma was also critical of National Conference (NC) in general and its president Farooq Abdullah in particular for his double-speak. Condemning Farooq’s recent statements in which he glorified stone throwers and termed them as ‘nationalist’, Sharma said, “He speaks one thing in Kashmir, another in Jammu and something else in New Delhi. Just to get votes and win an election, Farooq Abdullah is playing deceptive and vote bank politics, which I condemn in strong words.â€
Speaking about Bishnah Assembly constituency lacking behind in all round development after 2014 Assembly elections, he said that the incumbent MLA never turned back to see the people as in how much despair they are living. “All the road networks have been damaged as potholes are order of the day everywhere. Works started during my tenure have been stopped and Bishnah is lacking behind with respect to other constituencies. Same is the case with in power sector. Despite being in opposition I was able to bring a grid station to Bishnah which addressed the power crisis in the constituency. But when I left power sector has also suffered,†the former MLA said.
There is no positive thing in other sectors like health, agriculture, PHE, irrigation and other departments, he added.
Sharma assured that he will put every effort to take up these issues with the PDP-BJP government in the state so that all these issues are addressed. “My aim is to make Bishnah a model constituency and will not stop till I achieve the target,†he added.
The BJP leader said that under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, central government has taken several pro-poor and pro-farmer developmental steps which have started to show the results on the ground. There are many schemes like Jan Dhan Yojna, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, free gas connection to BPL families and other such schemes, which central government has taken for the welfare of poor people, he said.
He informed that central government is giving full support to the state government to implement the developmental agenda and generate employment opportunities for educated youth. These youth will be imparted with skill development training which will help them in future to start their own ventures and generate employment opportunities for others as well.
Sharma said that Modi government is committed to eradicate the menace of corruption. “During past three years since the Modi government came into being, not a single allegation of corruption has been levelled against any of his ministers, which is a very big thing,†he said.
He reiterated state and central governments’ commitment towards addressing the issues of border dwellers and provide compensation to their land which has been covered due to installation of fence and also which is beyond the fence.
At the same time Ashwani Sharma demanded simplifying the process to get the benefit of package announced by Prime Minister for POK refugees of 1965 and 1971. “We thank the PM for announcing the package for these refugees but they are facing difficulties as the process is very complex. There is need to simplify it so that refugees get benefit,†he demanded.
